Tafa Vaa, age 56, of American Samoa passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2020, surrounded by her family. Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 AM, Thursday, September 17, 2020, at Viss Family Funeral Home, 1614 S. FM 116 in Copperas Cove with burial following at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 on the day of the service.
Tafa was born on January 19, 1964, to the late Sailinuu and Muliau Fuega Tausaga in Samoa. She attended Olosega and Aua Elementary and graduated from Fagaitua High School in 1982. Tafa worked as an attendant for 17 years at the Rain Maker Hotel in Pago Pago, American Samoa. In 1999, she met Laufasa Vaa and they married on May 9, 2001, in Pago Pago. Tafa earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Hawaii Manoa in Education and later earned her Master’s Degree in Education at Argosy University Honolulu Hawaii.
Tafa was very devoted to her to Lord and served him in all aspects of her life. She was a Sunday School teacher, member of the choir, and served with the women’s ministry at the Congregation Christian Church in the Pava’ia’i Village of American Samoa. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. Tafa enjoyed reading, singing, and working in her garden.
Tafa was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters and two brothers.
Tafa is survived by her husband, Laufasa Vaa; children, Tusitiai ManhiemTausaga,
Oilau Lealoa Daphne Vaa, Vasati Audrey Vaa, Asofaamanatuailefuaomanu’atele Laufasa Vaa Jr.; two brothers; three sisters; four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews that she played a huge role in raising.
