Ssg Ralph De Long, U.S. Army, Ret.

Ralph J. De Long, age 69, of Copperas Cove, passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2021. No services are planned at this time.

Jud was born in Williamsport, PA to the late George and Frances Rigby De Long. He graduated from Williamsport High School in 1970 and was drafted into the United States Army. Jud was a Vietnam veteran who also served in Desert Storm. Before retiring he served over 20 years on Active Duty. Jud met Sandra Gwaltney and they married in 1972. The Army brought the family to many assignments but loved being in Germany the most. They retired in upstate New York and became a caregiver for his wife until she passed in 2013. In 2017, he moved to Texas to be closer to his family and he loved being a grandfather to his grandchildren. He truly enjoyed his most recent role as a great-grandfather. Jud always did things his way! Your flamboyant personality, laughter, random singing and dancing are greatly missed by the loved ones closest to you.

Jud was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and several siblings.

Jud is survived by his son, Russell De Long; daughter, Laura Farrell; four grandchildren, Ryan De Long and wife, Joelynn, Riley De Long, Casey Farrell, Cory Farrell; great grand-daughter, Reyna Sandra Lee De Long and his sisters, Phyllis Mundrick, Edrie Carl De Long.
