Nivia Vines

September 24, 1949 — May 31, 2021

Copperas Cove

Nivia M. Vines, age 71, transitioned from this life peacefully in Copperas Cove, Texas on May 31, 2021.  She was born in Darien, Panama on September 24, 1949, to the late Ferneliz Diaz and Eugenia Gomez Alvarado.  She was the eldest of her siblings.   Nivia was passionate about caring for others, a trait and characteristic she inherited from her mother. Funerla services will be life streamed on the Viss Family Funeral Home Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/vissfamilyfuneralhome/

Nivia loved God, with all her heart.  Her love for God was manifested in her love for sharing kindness, compassion, and wisdom.  She enjoyed and loved people; and, had a way of connecting with them that was remembered long after the encounter.

She was united in Holy Matrimony on September 21, 1983, to the love of her life for over 37 years, Woody Vines.  She was a pillar of support to her husband during his career with the United States Army. When he retired, Woody and Nivia took time to enjoy their grandchildren and traveled often to their other home in Panama City, Panama.

Nivia was immensely proud of her Panamanian Heritage and compelled her children to continue carrying that pride for their cultural heritage.  She devoted herself to her family and her hands were never idle.  Nivia was an excellent cook, seamstress, and a highly creative crafter.  Faith, Family and Unity were traits she also instilled in her family through the labor of LOVE.  Nivia to her family, was an angel here on earth who always exhibited strength.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She leaves to cherish her memories a devoted husband, Woody Vines.  Children: John Sr. (Iris), Angela, Aaron, Keith, and Winett. A nephew close to her heart Noriel. Grandchildren: John Jr, James, Jonathan, Shawn, Genesis, Jose, Johelia, Joshua, Jace, Jeniah, Micha, Blake, and Aaden; and several great-grandchildren.  She also leaves to mourn: Her brothers Hugo Vega (Aura), Fernando Ibarra Gomez (Josefina), Hildebrando Diaz, Eric Camacho; Her sister Candelaria Ayarsa Gomez Sisters-in-love; Regina Vines Garrett, Mary Vines Smith (Iran), June Vines Moore, Vicki Vines Ballard (Byron); Brother-in-love, Marvin Vines; Very close friends of hers Johnny and Nelda Brown, Gloria Torres, Bequis Cedeño de Gibson, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
