Mu King

November 1, 1939 — February 17, 2023

Mu Sun King, 83, of Copperas Cove, TX, passed away peacefully in the early morning of February 17, 2023. There was a small viewing for immediate family on Monday, February 20 from 10:00 to 11:00 am, at Viss Family Funeral Home in Copperas Cove followed by cremation.

Mu, known by close friends as Sue, was born on November 1, 1939, in South Korea to the late (father) Hwang, Young Ju, and (mother) Kang, Si. Sue met her future husband, Thomas Lowell King, while he was stationed in South Korea and the two were married in Inglewood, California on June 10, 1975. Sweeny, TX was where Sue called home for 40+ years. She learned to live a Dedicated Christian life and gave her all to mothering and grandmothering. Sue was passionate about her career as a school custodial maintenance worker where she was loved by students and colleagues. She made the best of friends in the community and worked hard to provide for loved ones. After retiring from working in the school system, Sue relocated to Copperas Cove to be close to her family.

Activities Sue enjoyed were the simple things in life such as spending time gardening, picking pecans, walking in the park, and having an appreciation for nature. She was a hard worker and always thought of others. You could find Sue at church which she attended regularly, conversating with family on the phone, visiting with friends, and drinking coffee with her granddaughters. Sue’s optimism and presence filled the entire room. She loved her family and friends unconditionally, was selfless and sacrificial, and most of all was a proud Christian.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Lowell King. Mu is survived by her son: James Hwang and his wife Suk; granddaughters: Christina Hwang, and Suzanne Frazier, and her husband Larry; and great-grandchildren: Lee and Sahnish.

The family of Sue wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Stoney Brook Senior Living and Harbor Hospice. A special thank you to her family and friends who have supported and loved her throughout her life.
