Marjorie Barnes

November 6, 1956 — August 10, 2021

Kempner

Our beloved mother and grandma, Marjorie Jane (Aldridge) Barnes, age 64, of Kempner, went to be with our Lord and Savior after a hard-fought battle with cancer on August 10, 2021. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, August 16, 2021, at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Visitation will be held from 11-12 Noon before the service at Viss Family Funeral Home, 1614 S. FM 116, Copperas Cove, Texas.

Margie was born on November 6, 1956, in Blackshear, Georgia to the late Charles Lindberg Aldridge and Dorothy Juanita (Walters) Aldridge.  She graduated from Camden County High School in 1974 and married her soul mate, Owen Barnes on October 25, 1975, in Kingsland, Georgia just before he left to serve in Korea. They lived many places while Owen served his career in the United States Army. Marjorie spent her life as a military wife, always making sure uniforms were clean and pressed. This was a great help to Owen because he was color blind.  She worked odd and end jobs such as babysitting, cleaning rental homes, and retail to help make ends meet.  She enjoyed gardening, coin collecting, and playing online games with her friends.

Margie is preceded in death by her husband, Owen Barnes; parents, Charles and Juanita Aldridge; and sister, Betty Foster.

She leaves behind her children, Keisha Tischler and husband, Clayton and Chris Barnes and wife, Susan; four grandchildren, Billy and Carson Tischler and Adley and Emerson Barnes; her siblings, Annette Roberson and husband, Ed and Elaine Heath and husband, Jim; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
