Leonard Davis Jr., age 68 of Copperas Cove, passed away on April 29, 2023. Memorial services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, May 19, 2023, at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen with Juan Quijano and Patrick Williams officiating.

Leonard Davis, Jr. passed on April 29, 2023. He was born on July 12, 1954, in Paris, TX, to Leonard Davis Sr. and Essie Bray Davis. He grew up in Paris Texas and graduated from Paris High School.  In 1976, he joined the U.S. Army.  With the option of being stationed anywhere in the world, he chose Panama. Panama was his choice because he said it was a beautiful country.   Little did he know that he would not only see the beauty of Panama, he would meet the love of his life - Carmen. Leonard met Carmen C. Rodriguez at the grand bus station on the Pacific side of Panama.  After marriage, the two of them traveled the world from Panama, Colorado Springs, New Jersey, Germany, and finally Texas.

Leonard was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. A tireless hard worker and great provider he always was willing to lend a helping hand and offer meaningful advice to his family and friends. A great friend and listener and he always had a kind word to say. Leonard had a respect for Jehovah and would encourage his beautiful wife to go out in service and tell people about Jehovah.  Even in times of uncertainty, he provided leadership and guidance letting you know there is nothing you can’t overcome with love.

Fishing, family cookouts, and cheering on his favorite sports teams were just a few of his many pastimes, but he mainly enjoyed being with his family and friends and sharing laughter. During these events, there was never a dish he prepared that didn’t mirror his many tastes and love for the extraordinary. To put it quite simply if you thought you didn’t like it, he would change your mind instantly.   One of his favorite TV shows, where we all gathered as a family and laughed, was Sanford & Son.  Leonard also loved to fry turkeys which he taught his grandsons.

He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and direct bold sense of humor.  One of his favorite things to always tell us was” Y'all know I love you”.

He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard Davis Sr.  & Essie Davis, Sisters Mary L Casey, Novella Hart, Bessie Hartfield, Brothers Cecil Davis, Otis L. Davis, and Orlen J. Davis. Granddaughter Niah Lenae Rodriguez.

A lifetime of fond memories will forever be in the hearts of: his loving wife of 49 years, Carmen Cecilia Davis; his children, Abdiel Davis, Yara Thomas (Michael Thomas), Yahir Davis (Amanda Davis), Zabir Davis (Summer Davis); his grandchildren, Jairo Thomas (Jessy Thomas), Zavion Thomas (Jada Thomas), Tercio Thomas (Sharon Thomas), Zander and Xavier Davis; and his great grandchild:  Zahir Thomas.

Isaiah 25:8 He will swallow up death forever, And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces. The reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, For Jehovah himself has spoken it.

Nieta Niah Lenae Rodriguez.
