Joyce Lucille Smith

Joyce Lucille Smith, 83, of Copperas Cove, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2022. No services are scheduled at this time.

Joyce was born on January 1, 1939, to Ivan and Emma (Stuckey) Buchwalter in Wooster, Ohio. Joyce spent most of her early life in Ohio. 

Joyce married Thomas C. Smith on July 16, 1967, in Ohio. While Thomas served in the U.S. Army, Joyce faithfully accompanied him to several duty stations within the United States and they ultimately settled down in Copperas Cove in 1975 following Thomas’s retirement. 

Joyce was involved with the Church of Nazarene in Copperas Cove for several years and would sometimes play piano and sing for their services. She loved to sing and play piano, especially gospel music. 

Joyce was a devoted wife, mother, and mother figure to all the kids in her neighborhood. She had a heart for service.

Joyce was proceeded in death by her parents, Ivan and Emma Buchwalter; her son, Michael Bryan; and sister, Margie Smith.

Joyce is survived by her husband of nearly 55 years, Thomas Smith; children, Randy Joseph Kaser and wife Debbie of Belton, SC and Valerie Neister and husband Gary of Burleson, TX; grandchildren, Tonia Causey and husband Dale of Williamson, SC, Jermey Clark and wife Sherri of Central, SC, Mathew Clark and fiancée Jennifer of Pelzer, SC, and Travis Kaser and fiancée Jamie of Amarillo, TX; and fifteen great-grandchildren; brother, William Buchwalter of Ohio; and sister, Rosemary Cagle of Ohio.
