Douglas Johnson

Douglas L. Johnson, age 68 of Copperas Cove, passed away on the morning of February 19, 2023. A Celebration of life service will be held at a later date at the VFW in Copperas Cove, TX.

Douglas was born in Alameda, California on July 12, 1954, to Ole John Johnson and Danna Lillian Fuller. He grew up with 4 sisters and a brother. After Doug graduated High School, he joined the United States Army on April 27, 1973. While in the Military Doug was stationed in Germany where he met the love of his life Angelika, and they were married on May 23, 1981. While in Germany, Angelika and Doug gave birth to twin boys Andrew and Steven on July 11, 1982. During Doug’s Military service, the family was stationed in many different places such as Germany, California, and Oklahoma, and finally decided to call Fort Hood, Texas home in 1991. Doug retired as a Sergeant on May 1, 1993, after 20 years of Honorable service. Doug worked as a land surveyor and a medical carrier. He retired for the second time in 2022.

Doug spent his free time building World War II airplane models and loved spending time with his grandchildren. One of his greatest joys was being a Papa. Doug and Angie were blessed with 7 grandchildren. Doug made it a point to build a special bond and relationship with each grandchild. Doug also loved spoiling their 4 German shepherds. Doug sadly passed away in the home that Angelika and he shared for 30 years on February 19, 2023.

He was preceded in death by, his parents Ole and Danna, and sister, Deborah.

Douglas is survived by his wife of 43 years, Angelika Johnson; sons, Andrew Johnson and wife, Nicole, and Steven Johnson and wife, Danica; his brother, Ron; and sisters, Tina, Karin, and Teresa.
