CSM Stanley L. Chapman, Jr., age 74, of Copperas Cove, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at Viss Family Funeral Home followed by a graveside at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.

Stan was born on November 28, 1946, in Portland, Oregon to the late Stanley Chapman, Sr., and Mildred Chapman.  He joined the United States Army in 1965 and served for 27 years before retiring in 1992. Stan received many awards during his time to include “Legion of Merit”.  He married Hilda Merced in Sep 2002.  In 2003, they moved to Copperas Cove to be near family.  Stan worked an additional 18 yrs for Fort Hood Family Housing.  Stan’s hobbies included Bike riding, hiking, playing golf, working outdoors in his woodshop, and watching NASCAR and golf.

Stan is survived by his wife, Hilda Chapman; children, Robert Chapman and wife, Jennifer, Sharon Chapman, Ann Chapman; Hilda’s children, Angel Figueroa and wife, Dennya, Taina Johnson and husband, Lorenzo, Andre Figueroa and wife, Katie; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made “Texas Human Heroes” Killeen Animal Shelter .
